Ms. Tucker was slammed in the driver’s door by a drunk driver. She spent the weekend in the hospital and had approximately $22,000 in medical bills. Ms. Tucker did not claim any lost wages. The highest offer to settle the case came on the eve of trial and that offer was $75,000. A Chesterfield County jury awarded $300,000 in compensatory damages and $100,000 in punitive damages.
